Patri Friedman received a BS in math from Harvey Mudd College, an MS in computer science from Stanford University, and an MBA from Cardean University. While in school he experimented with technology startups, ran a small consulting business, and co-founded two intentional communities. He was a software engineer at Google from 2004-2008. Patri is the Founder & Chairman of The Seasteading Institute, a non-profit which seeks to build cities on the ocean to experiment with diverse political systems.

Since 1999 he has been Ira W. DeCamp Professor of Bioethics in the University Center for Human Values at Princeton University.

Andrew Hessel, a consulting biologist and advocate of DNA technologies, discusses the acceleration of technological DNA change to help cure cancer. Hessel refers back to 2002 when he booted up the first synthetic virus and started to make synthetic bacteria. Today he is playing around and reengineering simple organisms like algae to make fuels. Hessel emphasized that the field is moving so quickly that education has not been able to keep up. There aren't that many genetic engineers because the only way you can learn the skill is by doing it.

Kristina Höök is Professor in Human-Machine Interaction at the Department of Computer and Systems Sciences, a post she has held since 2003. She is also a part-time employee at SICS, the Swedish Institute of Computer Science. Kristina was a founder of the Mobile Life Centre in 2007, now some 50 researchers who work with corporate and governmental partners including Microsoft Research, Ericsson, Nokia, TeliaSonera and the City of Stockholm. Her research focuses on bodily and emotional interaction.

Nick Webb is Visiting Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science at Union College. His research encompasses a range of Natural Language Processing applications, including Information Extraction, Question Answering and Dialogue Systems, as well as Social Robotics, and Computer Science Education. He was the Principal Investigator of the NSF-funded Social Robotics Consortium of the Capital Region, and is co-PI of the Social Robotics Workshop, funded by the National Center for Women and Information Technology (NCWIT).
